Will of God
What our pastors have said about Will of God, drawn from messages preached across our campuses.
In their own words
“So the first definition of God's will, the first type you could say of God's will that we'll discuss this morning is God's will of decree. God's will of decree. This is everything that God has ordained and brings to pass. It's what we mean when we say that everything that happens happens according to the will of God. It can also be referred to as God's sovereign will or God's prevailing will. God's will of decree is everything that God ordains and brings to pass.”
Austin Anderson · Knowing and Doing the Will of God“And so we follow God's word and we learn God's word, not so that we can just pile up a list of rules in our head, but so that we can joyfully and lovingly obey the God who sent his son to die for us and that we can have relationship with him. I've heard it put this way. I think it's really good. The Word of God is a pathway into the presence of God. The Word of God is a pathway into the presence of God. We don't just read God's Word in order to gain more head knowledge. We read God's Word in order to be with and have a relationship with the God who wrote it.”
Austin Anderson · Glory of God Week 1 (High School)“without a shadow of a doubt. We never know what God is going to call us into. But I can tell you pretty confidently, God's never going to call me to be a worship pastor. And no church wants me to be a worship pastor. That's just not the way that God has gifted me. That's not the way that he's designed me. I love to sing praises to God. I'll make a joyful noise all the day long. But that's not something that God has gifted me in. And it's probably not somewhere that God is going to lead me. God gives us different passions. God gives us different desires. God gives us different”
Austin Anderson · How to Find God's Will“You can remember Job crying out after he lost everything and God was good. You can remember Samson when he was humbled and lost all of his strength, cried out to God and God was good. And you can remember Jesus Christ on the cross when he emptied himself and he cried out to God and God was good. Every time God's people cry out to God, God shows up and works all of those situations for his glory and his people's good.”
David H. McKinley · Desperation Thirsting to Know God“that we are broken and fallen, but that God intervened and sent his son, Jesus Christ, the word of God. In the beginning was the word, the word was with God, the word was God, And the word became flesh and dwelt among us. He is the word of God. Why? That we might know God who made us. And the word of God became flesh. The word of God paid the penalty, took the separation, nailed to the cross, shed his blood, buried, tasting death,”
David H. McKinley · Meditation: Hearing God's Voice“God always answers prayer. But the problem is I focus so much on what I want God to do for me, I don't always understand what God wants to do in me. So how does God answer prayer? What are some ways in which God answers prayer? Well, let me just, let me give you some ways God answers prayer. First and foremost, when God answers prayer, sometimes the answer is no. Have you come to settle that? That sometimes God's answer is just no.”
David H. McKinley · Assessibility of God“goes something like this, I believe in God equals a healthy marriage. I believe in God, therefore I will have sufficient monies. I believe in God therefore my kids won't be wavered. I believe in God so therefore I would have the the security of never losing my job. I believe in God and so that accident won't happen. I believe in God so I don't get the diagnosis. I believe in God and so that loss won't come. We believe somehow at the depths of our being that somehow responsibility in life should be a response then or a result of that responsibility and obedience should be a”
Stephen Newman · Proclamation: Declaring the Goodness of God“cried out to God and God was good. And you can remember Jesus Christ in the cross when he emptied himself and he cried out to God and God was good. Every time God's people cry out to God, God shows up and works all of those situations for his glory and his people's good. Not always in the most expected ways, but always in the most impactful ways. You see, our memories of”
